As a building material, wood offers a huge variety of design opportunities for prospective home owners, from those seeking classical and traditional designs, to those seeking more modern, contemporary styles. Some customers choose to build in the Scandanivian log home style like many of our kit designs and others will build to reflect the vernacular Irish style. The American designs usually offer larger rooms with varied roof levels and large deck areas.
Our web site and our catalogs show some standard designs that other customers have built and you are not in any way limited to these. Customers can choose from the hundreds of standard designs or can design their own home with the help of our design staff.
There are usually four options open to you:
1. Go with one of our standard plans
2. Customise a standard plan by changing the interior layout
3. Develop from a standard plan by building on or modifying features
4. Provide your own custom-designed plan
Many of our customers have an Irish-based architect design a home to meet their specific needs. It is not necessary for the architect have experience in Log Home design and we can adapt their plans to render the building as a log home. Your architect will talk with you to understand your life-style and your particular needs and will produce a design that takes best advantage of your site.
It is advisable to have your architect contact us to discuss the important design implications to be considered during the design process.
