Insurance - What maintenance is required?
Like all buildings, log homes require periodic maintenance to stay healthy and long lasting. Just as you would paint the exterior of a block house so too would you care for a log home.

The external walls are painted with preservative after construction and, due to the absorption qualities of the wood, they are painted again the first year. Thereafter they should be painted every four to five years but some paint manufactures claim that eight to ten years is more appropriate.

Our windows and doors can be painted in the factory prior to delivery and we have found that this significantly reduces the amount of repainting required in future years.
