Health - I’ve heard that log homes are healthy to live in. Is this true?
Log homes produce far less dust than block houses and asthmatics and those with respiratory ailments have long felt the benefit of living in wooden buildings.

Logs emit the vapour of their wood and pine logs emit the essential oils of the pine tree. Aromatherapists know that this oil stimulates, refreshes and cleanses. With a strong, fresh aroma it has a powerful antiseptic quality and a deodorant effect.

Wood allows air to go through it in both directions. The billions of tiny cells operate as a natural air conditioner and they provide a continuous gentle flow of fresh air into the home. With the excellent insulating properties that wood offers, incoming air can be warming in winter and cooling in summer.

The humidity in a building has a significant effect on our well being. In block houses the humidity can range from 10% to 90% and at such extremes bacteria, fungi, viruses, dust mites and other unpleasant creatures thrive. In our log homes the humidity variance is much less and has been measured to be close to the optimum 35% to 55% at which levels people thrive.
